Veteran oil spill activists Riki Ott and Lisa Marie Jacobs work with “accidental activists” – front-line community organizers who have been harmed by fossil fuel industry activities or who are in harm’s way from proposed activities. We share information and knowledge and help people regain control over their lives and meet their own needs. We help with initial organizing and outreach to document and share the real stories of disaster trauma. We also teach rights-based community organizing to shift towards a more sustainable future and recruit for the larger democracy movement. We are currently working directly in Alaska, the Gulf of Mexico, Michigan, and British Columbia, and networking with people nationally and internationally on energy-related issues.
